"...leaves not a word denrutnu."
"Like the toys from the chest, he comes alive at sunset."
"The words themselves are alive."
"Poetry: bursts of language, touches of the words...."
"In poetry, my friends, all is in the sharing."
"...like the gardener his flowers..."
"The wind in the grass can't be taken into the house." --Yes it can!
"Chapbooks! Chapbooks! Get your poetry from the poet, direct!"
"See now what just words can do!"Essayist, fiction writer, storyteller and performance poet, presenting stories and poems original and adopted, original translations, in French and/or English, or bilingual. He has published numerous chapbooks, audio- and videotapes, soon a CD. (Translations monographs: 'The Paris 1925 Surrealists', 'Jacques Brel', 'Translator--No Traitor'.) He tours in the Spring and Fall. This website summarizes his production.A Personal StatementI have made various experiments in reaching out with my writings, storytelling and poetry.
On the web too, I have experimented with different formats. Each of my websites has a "feel" of its own for its purpose is different. My preference (but that is a matter of personal opinion) goes to the adventure-prone mkt21, although the simplicity of mkpoet is quite effective as a single homepage. For those who have a wide screen and prefer "to see what they are buying" as for a newspaper or magazine, I designed the palette.
And, one more tackle on communication (and one I would really like to see take off), a sort of face-to-face roundtable discussion on poetry in performance. [It requires a wide screen, though]. The site also includes an "almanac" of classical poetry.
New also is the translation site: it has surfaced from the depths of the mkt21 adventure cave, where it was too difficult to reach for a would-be contributor ... And, possibly, the context of adventure could be intimidating for a contribution.
But it has repeatedly been suggested that I should present a very ordinary personal page containing nothing but original work -- stark, no commentary, no publicity, no links! Well now, for you who so requested, here it is, this mk troubadour personal page
And there's another side of me: my left brain, when it drives, studies the motions of molecules in crystals, draws analogies to the mechanisms of memory, probes the motivations of the cooperative psyche and simulates processes on binary-choice fractal machines wrongly named computers... hence this newfangled interest of mine in webbing -- a new sport which I approach like those I practice in the wild: scouting, trailblazing, climbing, skiing... Cyber is wild, in a way.
